A BBC reality star has relived the horrific moment she was thrown through a car windscreen in a terrifying crash.

Made Up in Belfast follows a group of young professionals from Northern Ireland as they navigate the beauty industry.

The BBC Three series goes behind-the-scenes of cosmetic company BPerfect and its boss Brendan McDowell.

But during one episode, the beauty mogul's staff member revealed a horror car crash is the reason she first got into beauty.

Eimhear O'Kane told her work colleague Emma McVeigh that she had scars on her body.

While having a glass of wine Emma asked why, with the retail area manager saying: "I was in a car accident.

"And my head, like, went through the window."

As Emma gasped, Eimhear went on to say: "If like, a dog scratched your whole face, that was me.

"I have all scars underneath my brows and like, here and stuff."

The beauty expert said her face was "dripping blood".

Speaking more about the horror smash on camera, Eimhear said she was 17 when the accident occurred.

She said: "Unfortunately my face got affected very badly and I had to see a plastic surgeon.

"So I really had to get into my skincare and makeup and be careful what I put on my skin."

Made Up in Belfast is available now on the BBC iPlayer.
