A GARDENING guru has revealed how to effectively get rid of grim green algae from your fence using items found in your kitchen.
The humid weather often means that fences and garden furniture can fall victim to algae - and whilst it won't harm the wooden material, it can make your garden rather unsightly.

Fortunately, one pro, William Mitchell of Sutton Manor Nursery has revealed how to banish the teeny organisms with natural methods.
Chatting with The Express, the whizz said there were tricks people can use to remove algae from fences - and one of them is using pressure washer.
However, if you do not wish to use this more costly method, there are also other ways, such as sticking to items found in your kitchen.
According to William, the two most effective natural options are baking soda, as well as white vinegar.

“Both vinegar and baking soda are extremely popular choices for general cleaning and disinfecting purposes, from worktops to laundry and more.
''Just make sure if you choose to use vinegar, that you use white vinegar in your solution,'' he warned.
To banish the green algae from a fence using vinegar, ensure a small amount is mixed with some water before spraying the mixture onto the affected area, William instructed.
After letting the concoction do its magic for 30 minutes to an hour, you can then scrub the algae off to reveal a "freshly cleaned” fence.

The inexpensive cupboard staple can also help with removing stains and oil from wood, the guru noted.
If you wish to banish slimy algae using baking soda, follow the same steps as above and mix a small amount of baking soda with water.

Once you've applied the paste onto the fence, wait around 30 minutes to an hour before scrubbing it off.
